A variety of topics were discussed , including , political action , committee reports , local reports and a report from the director of Cope Ontario , Sister Janice Best.
There was plenty of discussion around the upcoming provincial election in terms of what it would mean to everyone
in the labor movement if the province were to elect Tim Hudak of the conservative party. He plans to dismantle the labor movement by gutting our rights as workers and essentially eliminating the middle class of good paying jobs while giving corporations more power and more profit. I encourage each and everyone of you to become involved in our fight against the the Hudak conservatives using any means possible . This can include , becoming involved in the upcoming election , or something as simple as keeping in your everyday conversations.
Friday evening was a panel discussion . The topic of discussion was Facing and over coming challenges at the local, provincial and national level . There was was many interesting stories from not only the panel , but also from the floor . Brothers and sisters discussed things such as , keeping members engaged in your local , effective communication , and breaking down barriers that prevent us from reaching out to members in your local.
There was also discussion around how to involve and attract more youth participation and also how we can use social media as a tool for effective communication .
After adjournment of the panel , most people in attendance shared stories and had fun at the hospitality suite. .
