13 Delegates attended this convention , but what proved to be one the defining moments for our local was..... we were represented by 4 Young Worker Delegates . Our young workers were enthusiastic , optimistic and engaged in all aspects of the weekend.
These four delegates were participants in the " Young Workers Forum " held on Friday May 22nd .
I want to mention their names :
From our LHSC Bargaining Unit
Sindy De Benedictis
From our TVCC Bargaining Unit .
The workshop was facilitated by Amanda Holmberg - Chair for COPE Ontario Young Workers Committee.
The topics of discussion ranged from Social issues , Economic issues to Political Issues .
On behalf of the Cope Ontario Political Action Committee , I had the privilege of addressing the young worker delegates . My discussion was based on how Politics and Political decisions shape their lives and also stressed the importance of getting involved and being an informed voter.
When I see the excitement and commitment in the eyes of these young workers , it makes me feel a little easier about the future.
Also on Friday May 22nd , Valerie and myself attended the Cope Ontario Executive Board Meeting .
We covered the usual agenda items : treasurers report , directors report , local board reports and committee reports .
I am happy to inform you , Cope Ontario is in good financial status , we are meeting our targets for past resolutions and we continue to work towards our goals for the Cope Ontario Mentor-ship Program .
